Misyon Student Essay Contest entry

Like what I said. This was my contest entry for Misyon. My Values teacher told me about this one morning and said that I have to pass my entry the day after. So this was what I came up for in one day.

The youth today face many adversaries that hinder the growth of their personhood and spiritual being. Influenced by the Devil’s doing, they forget their values and logical thinking replacing it with sex, vices, pornography, rebellion, and drugs.

It has been 2 years since I met Ate Megan. Within those 2 years, she has been sharing portions of her experiences through life. She was born without a father by her side and was adopted by her aunt and uncle. Despite this, she was rejected by both of them. From that point, she felt a sense of insecurity, distrust and emptiness because of that she resorted to her friends in hopes of filling up whatever her parents failed to do. She engaged into drinking beer, rebelling against her parents and neglecting her education in order to flee from her problems and hopefully overlook them in time. By the age of 11, she returned to her biological mother. She was the type of mother who was willing to help her child if given the chance. She would frequently offer advices and share God’s words with her but her efforts were senseless for Ate Megan, herself, was unable to uncover the difficulties that influence her unpleasant behavior. She continued what she has started, before she returned to her biological mother. It was until her first few days in college that she heeded for her mother’s words. Her mother introduced her to God and because of Him she gained new insights about her life. Her emptiness was filled with her devotion towards God and her love towards her family and friends. Today, she is preaching God’s words to high school students, helping them in hopes that they would not experience the same fate as she did. She is even a guitarist and a singer in a band that devotes its music to God. God helped save Ate Megan in order for her to do greater things from Him.

The family’s support is considered the standing point in a child’s social relations. It is because of this that will make a child vulnerable to the dangers present in the world today making them insecure, doubtful, empty and selfish. If the child has yet too feel love from his family then he will seek love from his peers instead. Most youth would then participate in whatever their peers are addicted to. Some of the youth today, hunger for love that they seek comfort from the opposite sex. This sometimes results to the impregnation of the female and the loss of virginity of both partners. And a percentage of the youth result to killing and suicide if they are given a situation that they cannot comprehend. These are the hindrances that blind and affect the youth greatly.

The hope of the world and Church’s tomorrow lies in the hands of the present youth. One can change the world and the Church when he is faithful and determined for the better future. It is because of one’s faith and determination that will lead him to change the world in spite of the numerous predicaments that he will encounter. His faith will assist him in remaining hopeful and faithful to what God has set for humanity and for himself. His doubts and insecurities will be released. His determination will allow him to act and follow God’s call ignoring the Devil’s temptations. Like a battlefield, one carries the hopes and dreams of the world. With the sword of light, represented by a person’s determination, and the shield of truth, represented by a person’s faith, one is engaging in a battle with the Devil to defend God’s. The youth is given a special task regardless of his origin or what he has done. They are given the task to change the world whether his task maybe spreading God’s word thru the arts, talks, actions and charities as long as the youth continue perform one act of random kindness at a time. For this very reason, I strongly believe; whatsoever comes in the way of the youth, as long as I remain firm and guarded with the sword of light and shield of truth I will triumph and revolutionize the world into God’s liking until the day that I await to be reunited with my Him.
